When out on a hunt, Arthur encounters a huge monstrous creature never before seen. Gaius realises it is a Questing Beast, a creature conjured from the nightmares of a long-dead king, whose bite is always fatal. When Gwen's father is imprisoned for treason and killed at Uther's behest, Morgana decides she must take revenge. Gwen's father, Tom, unknowingly helps a sorcerer named Tauren turn lead into gold using a magical stone, and he is suddenly arrested. There is no sign of Tauren, and whilst they look for him, Morgana finds the magical stone, which Merlin can easily sense. Tom is soon struck down and now Morgana wants revenge. Merlin is stunned to discover just how far she is prepared to go when he uncovers a plot to kill the King.

When the identities of a druid and his boy apprentice, Mordred, are discovered in Camelot, they are soon on the run from the guards, but when Merlin hears the boy's cry for help in his mind, he saves the boy. The druid ends up being executed, leaving the boy all on his own. Although the Great Dragon has told Merlin to be careful on who he meets, he still puts Arthur's life in danger keeping the boy safe. The Great Dragon tells Merlin that if he saves the boy Merlin can not fulfil his destiny - the young boy is going to kill Arthur.

Merlin;Season 1:episode 1: The Dragon's Call

Introduction.

Merlin is a young sorcerer who arrives at the city of Camelot, after his mother arranges for him to stay with Gaius, the court physician. He discovers that the king, Uther Pendragon, has outlawed magic and has imprisoned the last great dragon deep under the city. The dragon informs Merlin that he has an important destiny to protect Uther's son, Arthur, who will bring forth a great Kingdom. When he meets Arthur for the first time he believes that he is arrogant and Arthur views Merlin as subservient, as Merlin has to keep his magic a secret or face execution at the hands of Uther.

Morgana is Uther's ward with the power of prophetic foresight, which frightens her and which she keeps secret. Guinevere, whom she calls "Gwen", is her maid servant and close friend. The first series focused on the development of Merlin and his friendship with Arthur. The second series focuses more on development of the other cast members. Some of the central themes of the series are the budding romance between Arthur and Gwen and Morgana's struggle to control her powers, the latter eventually being corrupted by evil due to Uther's actions.

Other characters from Arthurian legend have also appeared. Lancelot longed to become a knight but was unable to do so because of his birth as a commoner. Mordred has appeared as a Druid boy who formed a bond with Morgana (in the legend he is either her nephew or her son), and it has been predicted by the dragon that Mordred will be the cause of death of Arthur (in the legend this occurred at the Battle of Camlann). Mordred and occasionally the Great Dragon refer to Merlin by his Druidic name, Emrys (the Welsh form of Ambrosius); Ambrosius Aurelianus was a historical figure that Geoffrey of Monmouth partially merged with Merlin. Excalibur is an ordinary sword that becomes enchanted by the Great Dragon and is later thrown into a lake (in the legends, this was the sword Nimueh gave to Arthur).

Thus,here, I bring to you the first episode of the First Season:The Adventrues of Merlin, entitled 'The Dragons Call'.

Merlin's mother sends him to start a new life in Camelot, though upon arrival he witnesses a man being executed for using sorcery, so soon learns he must tread carefully. When he steps in to protect a manservant from Prince Arthur and encounters the Great Dragon, the young sorcerer begins an adventure that will determine his destiny.

There is an epidemic in Camelot after the water supply is poisoned by a sorceress, Nimueh, and Gwen's father falls ill. Merlin cannot understand why anyone would want to harm others with magic. Despite Gaius's warnings, Merlin uses his powers to help, only for Gwen to be accused of practising magic to spread the disease throughout the kingdom, causing her arrest and execution warrant.
